Depends pretty much on the machine and tolerances you can do. So you can easily seperate the inserts in the CAD file and modify them that they are machinable on your CNC machine.\n\n2.) Sourcing:\nGlasses: Custom made by Fuyuanda Optical Technology LTD., CO. \nWe went this way because we needed a larger quantity made and all our local opticians were not interested in that. But basically every local optician can do these grooves into the lenses.\n\nHinges: Inflex by Obe Präzision\n\n3.) The glasses are sourced with a CNC machined groove inside them. This is way easier to do, than modify the frame afterwards. Otherwise around you can injection mould grooves in lenses or frames. That methods usually find place if you are looking for quantities north of 10-100k units.\n\n\nOverall this is more of an inspirational How To.
